Day Trips to Remember: Finding Adventure Right in Our Backyard

It has been said that the best adventures are often the ones you don't have to look for, and we’ve always kept it simple. With no grand plans, just a shared desire for some fresh air and quality time, we haven’t always gone on big budget trips and whipped passports out for leisure. It is the least planned local excursion that kicked off our desire to always make the best of our free time.

My husband and I began taking our kids on short trips and local excursions, just like you! A trip to the local park to run off the energy. A walk through the local botanical park to engage the senses. A jaunt to the pumpkin patch to see and experience the wonders of autumn. We love (still) the regional joys of exploring our home state gems, as well as national sites around the country.

It's these small, spontaneous trips that remind us that "travel" isn't just about crossing oceans. It’s about the moments we create together no matter where the destination. It’s about the shared jokes, the quiet moments of observation, and the feeling of connection you get from simply being together. Our little day trips are a big reminder of that. It gets us thinking about our next (and slightly bigger) adventure!
